William "Bill" Schuler, 82, State Center, died Friday afternoon, February 24 at his home of cancer.

Funeral services were held at the St Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Holmes officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens, Marshalltown. * Military Honors were given by the American Legion Harlan G Pfantz Post #122 State Center.

Born September 26, 1912 in State Center, he was the son of William and Carolyn Rittierodt Schuler. He received his education in the area of his birth and graduated from the State Center High School in 1931.

During World War II he served in the United States Army.

Mr Schuler was a member of the St Paul Lutheran Church where he was confirmed and was a lifelong member, and the Harlan G Pfantz Post #122 of the American Legion.

On January 25, 1943 he was united in marriage to Evelyn Curphy. They resided in State Center all their married lives where he was a cream hauler for the State Center Creamery and also did carpentry work.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Evelyn, who resides at home, a son Robert and his wife Deloris of Commanche, Iowa, a daughter Bonnie and her husband Hari Kamat of Fort Wayne, Indiana, four grandchildren: Josh and Krissie Kamat and Rodney and Nathan Schuler and a great grandson, Devon Schuler. Also surviving is his sister Velma Loney of State Center.

Preceding him in death were his parents, three sisters and two brothers.
