Mason and his wife lived all their life in Newton, Co. Ms but recently moved to Texas to live with one of the children before his death.

Funeral services for Mason Baucum, Sr., 71, of The Colony, Texas, were held Nov. 30 from Webb Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Bobby Moore officiated. Interment was in Concord Methodist Church Cemetery, Lauderdale County.
Baucum died Nov. 27. He was a World War 2 veteran and a member of Good Hope Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Zena Baucum, the Colony, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Joyce Boykin, The Colony, Texas; two sons, Mason O'Neal Baucum, Jr., Dallas, Texas. Luther Baucum, Dallas, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Margie Scarbrough, Decatur, one brother, Spencer Baucum, Hickory; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Joe Baucum, James Baucum, John Baucum, Larry Bond, David Baucum and Tommy Beeman.
Webb Funeral Home, Newton, was in charge of arrangements.
