Served as Chief of Police in Newton 1945 thru 1950's.

After his retirement he operated a store at 508 South Main Street in Newton. He was a member of First Baptist Church. "Cheif as he was lovingly known by numerous freinds, both white and colored will be missed in Newton where he did numerous helpful deeds. Among these were the transportation of cafe help to and from the Rainbow Cafe during the night hours and opening up the cafe each morning. Newton Record
