Vivian E. McGowan, 76, a lifelong resident of New Brighton, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1992. Born Sept. 25, 1916, in Butler, Pa., a daughter of the late Dr. Clifford R. and Viola Fair, she was a former employee of the J.C. Penney Co., Beaver Falls, and had also been a food demonstrator for local supermarkets for many years. A member of the Grace United Methodist Church, New Brighton, she was a life member and past worthy matron in 1954 of the Order of Eastern Star No. 173, New Brighton. Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Franklin C. McGowan; a son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Margaret McGowan, Harmony, Pa.; a daughter, Dawn K. Greco, New Brighton; eight grandchildren and; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Clifford and Jean Fair, New Brighton, and Dr. John and Dorothy Fair, Evans City; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Evelyn and Stanley Garvin, New Brighton; Jane fields, beaver Falls, and Dorothy Flaherty, New Brighton, and a sister-in Law, Betty Fair, in Ohio. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Richard Fair. Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in CAMPBELL'S NEW BRIGHTON, 1133 Penn Ave., where a service will be conducted Friday at 12:30 p.m. The Rev. Nelson T. Thayer, her pastor, will officiate. Private interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Daugherty Township. Memorial contributions may be made, in her name, to the Grace United Methodist Church, Sixth Avenue and 11th Street, New Brighton, Pa. 15066.
