Viola D. Fair, 98, of New Brighton, where she resided for the past 70 years, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1992, in Rochester Manor. Born Nov. 6, 1893, in Rhimerton, Pa., a daughter of the late John P. and Jane E. Gray Davis, she was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, New Brighton, and was the first president of WSCS of the church. She served as past worthy matron of New Brighton Chapter 173, Order of Eastern Star, and was a member of the New Brighton Woman's Club. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Clifford R. and Jean Fair, New Brighton, and Dr. John D. "Jack" and Dorothy Fair, Evans City; two daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Stanley Garvin and Vivian and Franklin McGowan, all of New Brighton, two daughters, Jane fields, Chippewa Township, and Dorothy Flaherty, with whom she resided; a daughter-in-law, Betty Fair, Beaver; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Florence Fisher, Butler, Pa., and Loretta Horton, Akron, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Clifford R. Fair, in 1971; to sons, Harold R. Fair, in 1971, and Richard E. Fair, in 1927, and three sisters, Ethel Myers, Rhoda Boyer and Margaret Wilkinson. Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in CAMPBELL'S NEW BRIGHTON,, 1133 Penn Ave., where a service will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m., by her pastor, the Rev. Nelson T. Thayer. Private interment will follow in Beaver Falls Cemetery, Chippewa Township. Memorial contributions may be made, if desired, to the Grace United Methodist Church, 1101 Sixth St., New Brighton, Pa. 15066.

Correction: Her place of birth Rhimerton is misspelled and should be Reimerton which is 2 miles SE of Sherrett in Armstrong Co., PA. Her father's name was John Ellsworth Davis making John P. in this obit incorrect.
