Death Takes Mrs. Casad

Merced mourned today the death of Mrs. Raleigh (Lillian Mae) Casad, who had been a member of this community for 45 years. Her death occurred Thursday evening at the family home on McSwain road following an illness of several weeks.

Lillian Moxley Casad was born in Missouri 63 years ago and came as a young woman to Merced with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Moxley. They settled in the British Colony district with the family home on the McSwain road. The Casads made this home theirs and have lived there for many years.

They were married in 1906 and were the parents of two sons, Clinton and Glen Roy. Clinton, an electrical engineer, died in South America a number of years ago. Glen and his daughters, Brenda Lee and Glenda Eloise, survive with Mr. Casad and a sister, Miss Alma Moxley of Los Angeles.

Mrs. Casad served as president of the Merced Women's club from 1931 to 1933. She was a member of the board of directors of the club at the time of her death and also was president of the Merced Garden club, and a circle leader of Central Presbyterian church.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 p'clock at Ivers and Alcorn Mission chapel with Dr. Earle R. Harvey, pastor of Central Presbyterian church, officiating. Burial will be in the family plot of Odd Fellows cemetery.
