SPRINGDALE - Millard Maxwell Johnson, 91, of Springdale, Ark., died March 2, 2010, at the Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born Aug. 9, 1918, at Whitener, Ark., the son of William Fred and Betty Culwell Johnson.

He was a retired water welldriller and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a member of the Mountain Springs Missionary Baptist Church and Springdale Lodge 316, Free and Accepted Masons.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Mason Johnson, on May 19, 2002.

Survivors include two daughters and one son-inlaw, Barbara Grigg and Carolyn and Gene Joyce, all of Fayetteville, Ark.; one sister, Clara Sharp of California; one grandson, Donnie Grigg of Lufkin, Texas; three granddaughters, Debra Connolly of Rogers, Shani Ford and Stacy Seagraves, both of Springdale; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with the Rev. James Goff officiating. Burial will be in the Boatright Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home, www brashearsfuneralhome.net of Huntsville, Ark.

Pallbearers will be Rex Sanders, Donnie Grigg, Matt Connolly, Steve Seagraves, Derek Ford and Gene Joyce.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Mr. Johnson's great-grandson, Titus Grigg, who is battling cancer by sending a memorial to Donnie Grigg or Amy Grigg in care of First Bank and Trust of East Texas, Attention: Christine, P.O. Box 151510, Lufkin, TX 75915.
