Clifford a. Holbrook, age 80, a retired carpenter-welder, passed away Dec 30, 1991 at the Pondera Medical Center after a long illness. He was born Dec 11, 1911, at Zahl, ND, and attended school there. His family moved to Mankato, MN in 1937.
Holbrook married Bernice Benning on june 24, 1939, in Mason City, Iowa. They moved to San Francisco where he worked in the shipyards for a year. The couple came to Montana and settled in Conrad in 1947. Holbrook worked for tire and implement dealerships and then became a carpenter-welder, retiring in 1975.
He was a charter member of the Loyal Order of The Moose, Chapter 1687, and Pondera Valley Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife of conrad, two daughters, Kathy Ahrendt of Grand forks ND, and Phyliss Knapton of Conrad, a son, James Holbrook of Lewiston, Idaho, a brother, Paul Holbrook of Janesville, MN; one half brother, four half sisters, seven grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
Funeral services were held Jan 3 in the Pondera Valley Lutheran church with burial in the Hillside Cemetery. The Pondera Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
