ELMER ERNEST HOLBROOK, 1909 – 1984
Elmer was born in Walker, Cass Co., MN, the son of Frederick Roy Holbrook and Clara Louise Bruggeman.His family was enroute to Williams county North Dakota where they homesteaded for a number of years. His father died in 1918; his moter remarried Mr. Alfred Fjeld. They returned to Minnesota in the late 1930's. On Dec 20, 1941, he married Wilhelmina 'Minnie' Emelia Krueger in Smiths Mill. After thier marriage, they lived on various farms near Madison Lake, and Kasota, and farmed in Decoria Twp. from 1951 through 1983 when Elmer retired and moved to Beauford MN. In June of 1984 he suffered a massive stroke; he died at the Mankato House nursing home in Mankato, Blue Earth Co., MN.
He is the father of Roy, David, Lorna, & Leonard. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Decoria.
Obituary - Services for Elmer Holbrook, 74,,of Mankato, who died Monday, Aug 13, 1984, at the Mankato House, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Redeemer Lutheran Church Decoria, the Rev. Milford Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Decoria Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Vetter Funeral Home, Mankato.
Mr. Holbrook was born Sept 13, 1909, at Walker, to Fred and Clara (Bruggeman) Holbrook. He married Wilhelmina (Minnie) Krueger on Dec 20, 1941, at Smiths Mill. They farmed in Kasota, Madison Lake and Decoria for many years. Mr. Holbrook is survived by his wife; two sons, Roy of Mapleton and Leonard of Mankato; a daughter, Lorna (Mrs. Dale) Jennings-Vogel of Nevada, Iowa; three brothers, Clifford of Conrad, Mont., Paul of Janesville and Cyril Fjeld of Mankato; five sisters, Alice Page and Marcella Button, both of Mankato, Mabel Krenik of LeCenter, Delores Goettl of Mankato and Alma Osmundson of Ely, Nev.; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, David, who died in 1975. Mankato Free Pres; 8/14/1984.
