From Holland St. John - "Seth St John was born in April 1856, the son of Nehemiah and Elmena (Freeman) St John on the family farm in Clayton County, Iowa. He was the youngest of a family of nine children. His parents had decided to move to Iowa after farming in Wisconsin the preceeding twelve years. His older sister Amanda Alzina died in 1848. They moved with Seth's remaining six older brothers and sisters to Clayton County in 1852 and established a farm near Arlington on the Fayette County border. Two more members of the family were added: Myron and Seth, both of which were born on the St John farm. However, Seth died on February 22, 1858, not quite two years of age. He was reported to be buried in the "Garretson" cemetery, but most likely it was the Reed cemetery where the interment of other members of his family are located."
