Biography

There was a John Schlepbe (Schleppy?) of Turbot Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, who purchased 109 acres & 20 perches for $2,728 from Joseph Straub in Turbot Township on March 31, 1838. No wife was listed. Deed recorded January 15, 1840.

Lydia Schleppy was listed in the 1850, 1860 and 1880 census as living in Chillisquaque Township (near Milton), Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. The husband, John Schleppy, was not listed in any of the census records, so he probably died prior to 1850. The children and their approximate birth dates were Conrad (1829), Aramitha (1836) and Jonas (1841).

On April 9, 1850, the Orphans Court appointed Isaac Ritter as a guardian to Jonas John Jacob Schleppy and Anaminta Schleppy, both minor children of John Schleppy, dec'd, under 14 years of age.

Lydia Schleppy, Chilisquaque Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania and heir of Jacob Balliet, Northampton County, Pennsylvania and Barbara Balliet, Delaware Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, was paid $180 by John Dentler on July 18, 1856. Deed recorded June 27, 1859.
