Death of D. S. Hunt

D. S. Hunt, aged 65 years, died at the home of his daughter near Chigley last Friday morning, acute indigestion being given as the cause of death. Mr. Hunt was one of the old settlers here, having lived in this community about 17 years and held the respect and esteem of all who knew him.

He was born in Alabama Feb. 25, 1854. He married Miss Berranda Rikard and they moved to Oklahoma. There he lived the balance of his life. He leaves a wife and five children, viz: Mrs. Ida Digby, Lee Carroll and Oscar Hunt of Gooseneck community; Russell Hunt of Davis, and Mrs. Dora Wells of Chigley. Two brothers, T. J. Hunt of Davis and John Hunt west of town, also survive him. He was an uncle of Ed Hunt who lies buried in France.

Mr. Hunt had not bee in good health for some time. He often worked when he should have been in bed. He came in from work Wednesday night and had an attack of acute indigestion from which he died.

The funeral was held at Oak Ridge cemetery Saturday afternoon, Rev. J. J. Franklin conducting the service. A hard rain fell while the service was going on. It is a co-incidence that his 2-year old grandson, Marvin Leonard, son of Oscar Hunt, died of membranous croup about four months ago and had to be buried in the rain.
