MR. BURTON
12 May 1922 – 29 Oct 2006

LANETT, AL — Mr. Guy Milford Burton, 84, of Lanett died Sunday, 29 Oct 2006 at Bill Nichols State Veterans Home in Alexander City, AL.

Funeral services are planned for 3 p.m. Tuesday, 31 Oct 2006 at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley, AL with Rev W. Alton Parris officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Lanett.

Mr. Burton is survived by his wife, Peggy Henderson Burton; his daughter, Elizabeth B. (John) Ward of Naperville, IL; two grandsons, John Douglas Ward Jr. and William Christopher Ward, both of Naperville; and one sister, Jimmie (W. Alton) Parris of Rainbow City, AL.

Born 12 May 1922 in Tallapoosa County, AL, Mr. Burton was the son of the late Suzie McEachern Burton and James Monroe Burton. He was the owner and operator of Burton Tire Company in Lanett for many years. Mr. Burton was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the U.S. Army. He belonged to Company B, 784th MP Battalion and served in New Guinea and Luzon. Mr. Burton was of the Baptist faith.

The family respectfully declines the honor of flowers and asks that memorials be made in his memory to the Lanett First Baptist Church or Southern Care Hospice, 3536 Vann Road, Birmingham, AL 35235.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, 31 Oct 2006 from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
