The service for Albert Aaron Jeffreys, 84, Route 2, Leighton, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mount Zion Free Will Baptist Church. The Revs. Robert McGee and Emmett Grissom will officiate. Burial will be in Poplar Creek Cemetery.

The body will be at his residence until time for the service.

He died Tuesday at his residence after an extended illness.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Colbert County. He retired from Reynolds as a supervisor, and served eight years as police chief of Leighton before retiring. He was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Melvin Jeffreys, Muscle Shoals, daughter, Mrs. Lorene Landers, Leighton; brother, Lonnie Jeffreys, Sheffield; sisters, Mrs. Laura Dawson, Leighton, Mrs. Myrtle Brackin, Moulton; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

Bearers will be Hillard Jeffreys, Tommy McBride, Travis Dawson, Devon Brackin, Ernest B. Jeffreys and Raymond McBride.
