Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 15, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. A memorial fund has been established in his memory.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 16, at the Clarence United Methodist Church in Clarence. Burial will be in Clarence Cemetery, Clarence, Iowa.
Frederick John Bachman was born May 6, 1900, in Cedar County, the son of William and Louise (Bauman) Bachman. He received his education in the Cedar County schools. He married Edith Lucille Hammond on February 16, 1924, in Marion. They were the parents of Donald, Shirley, Corrinne and two infants. The couple farmed north of Clarence. Edith preceded him in death on July 5, 1936. He married Florence Catherine (Heldt) Schneckloth on August 10, 1940, and were the parents of David and William. The couple continued to farm and would later demolish the old farm house and build a new house. He had also helped to build a new home in Clarence for his sister-in-law's mother, Clara Severin. He was a member of Clarence United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Florence; two daughters, Shirley (John) Freeman of Madison, WI, and Corrinne (Ronald) Atkins of Clarence; two sons, Donald Bachman of Davenport and William (Karen) Bachman of Clarence; one step-daughter, Joyce Kastler of Davenport; and one sister-in-law, Irma Bachman of Clarence.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, three sons, two twin stillborns and David Bachman, two brothers, Arthur Bachman and Edgar Bachman, two sisters, Eva Bachman and Clara Bachman and one nephew, John Bachman.
