David Bachman, 7 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bachman, met with a distressing and fatal accident last Wednesday, July 20, when he fell from the tractor he was driving ahead of the binder which his father was operating. Apparently David became drowsy and fell in the path of the tractor, one drive wheel running across his chest. Before his father could rush to his rescue, he received more injuries from the binder. David was taken to St. Luke's hospital, where he died Monday. He never regained consciousness. Besides injuries to his lungs, he suffered a bad head bruise and a broken arm.

David Frederick Bachman was born September 8, 1941, in Clarence, the son of Frederick and Florence (Heldt) Bachman. He was raised on the family farm one mile north of Clarence. Although David was only 7 years old, he and his brother William, enjoyed driving the tractor and helping their father around the farm. His untimely death brings much sorrow to this community.

Surviving are his parents, Fred and Florence Bachman; one brother, William Bachman; three half sisters, Shirley and Corrinne Bachman and Joyce Schneckloth; and one half brother, Donald Bachman.
