Shirley M. Freeman, 92, of Lake Placid, Florida, formally of Madison, Wisconsin and Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 11, 2020, in Tampa, Florida.

Shirley has been cremated and due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no visitation.

Private family graveside services will be 4:00 p.m., Friday, September 25, with burial in the Clarence Cemetery, Clarence, Iowa.

A Celebration of Life dinner will follow the graveside services at the Mill Creek Café in Clarence. All friends and family are welcome to join the family. Masks are required.

Shirley Marie Bachman was born August 18, 1927, in Clarence, the daughter of Frederick and Lucille (Hammond) Bachman. She grew up on the family farm just outside Clarence. Her mother died when she was nine years old and was raised by her father and step-mother, Florence Bachman. She graduated from Clarence High School in 1945, where she played basketball. She married John William Freeman on June 15, 1947, in Clarence. The couple moved to Madison, Wisconsin, where they lived until 1987, when they retired to Hot Springs, Arkansas and built a new home. John preceded her in death on February 18, 1991. She married Dale Wilton Stollsteimer in 1994. Dale preceded her in death on November 20, 2014. She then moved to Lake Placid, Florida to be near her daughter and her family. She enjoyed cooking, being a hostess, playing bridge and golf. She was fiercely independent and very active. Above all, she loved the time she spent with her family. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are one daughter, Linda DeGennaro of Okeechobee, FL; one son, Thomas (Marie) Freeman of Eagle Point, OR; five grandchildren, Matt Freeman and Emily Lamore, Greg DeGennaro Jr., John DeGennaro and Jenny Harrison; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Corrinne Atkins of Clarence; one half brother, William (Karen) Bachman of Clarence, and one step-sister, Joyce Kastler of Davenport.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother, both husbands, one brother, Donald Bachman, two infant twin siblings, one half brother, David Bachman and one brother-in-law, Ronald Atkins.
