Clara M. Bachman, 58, of Mount Pleasant, formally of Clarence, passed away Sunday, July 31, 1955, at the State Hospital in Mount Pleasant.


Funeral services were 3:00 p.m., Monday, August 1, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence, with Rev. Forrest E. Fowers officiating. A vocal solo was rendered by Mrs. Eugene McCaw with Mrs. Marvin Schilling at the piano. Pallbearers were Robert and Lester Kelly, Richard Dircks, Elmer Sawyer, Howard McClellan and Marvin Schilling. Burial was in the Clarence Cemetery, Clarence, Iowa.


Clara Margaret Bachman was born May 2, 1897, in Cedar County, the daughter of William and Louise (Bauman) Bachman. She was raised on the family farm near Clarence and did not attend any local school due to her illness. When she was 25 years old, she became a patient at the State Hospital in Mount Pleasant in 1922.


Surviving are one brother, Frederick (Florence) Bachman of Clarence; one sister-in-law, Irma Bachman of Clarence; and several nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by parents, one sister, Eva Bachman and two brothers, Arthur and Edgar Bachman.
