Obituary: THE FLINT JOURNAL, Thursday May 29, 2003
LABICK, EDITH - Formerly of McFarlan Home, age 100, died Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at Heartland Health Care Center, Fostrian. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2003 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Reverend Fr. Christopher Howe will officiate. Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The family of Mrs. Labick will receive friends at the Dodds-Dumanois Funeral Home from 12 noon to 4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Friday. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends Saturday at St. Matthew Catholic Church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Friends desiring may make contributions to Powers Catholic High School, St. Matthew Catholic Church or the Brothers of Holy Cross at Notre Dame. Mrs. Labick was born in Maple Grove Twp in Saginaw County, Michigan on March 10, 1903 and had lived in Flint most of her life. She married John Labick October 1940 and he preceded her in death in 1970. She worked as a housekeeper for 50 years in the home of Dr. and Mrs. Miner. Mrs. Labick was a former charter member of St. Luke Catholic Church and their Altar Society and presently a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and their Altar Society. She volunteered at St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary and worked for Hurley Medical Center making caps for premature babies. She was also a supporter of Powers Catholic High School and the North End Soup Kitchen. 1 sister Josephine Cosco of Whitesboro, NY survives her. She was preceded in death by husband John in 1970, Brothers, Fr. Julius Amman 1978, Edward Amman 1967, Bernard Amman 1990, Brother Armand Amman of Holy Cross 1992, Albert Amman 1980, Paul Amman 1997 and Richard Amman 1999 and Sisters Rita Herman 1982, Helen Gentile 1981 and Cecilia Prieur 1982.
