"Charles Huebner, a well known farmer living south of Tracy, Big Island, died at 6 o'clock this morning following an extended illness (one newspaper said cancerous trouble for 2 years). He was born in Germany, Aug. 4, 1850, and settled in LaPorte county.
He leaves a wife and three sons, two daughters. One of the sons, Fred, lives in LaPorte. The service will be held Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock from Immanuel Lutheran church in Tracy. Interment will be in the Tracy Lutheran cemetery. John Sweir (?), Union Mills is the undertaker in charge."

At age 21 he left Germany and arrived in New York on 5/23/1871. He applied for US citizenship on 10/12/1874 in La Porte County, Indiana. It was granted by the La Porte County Court on 11/22/1892.
He married Dora Meier on 7/10/1875 at Immanuel Ev Lutheran Church (first wedding in the new church building) Rev JF Neithammer officiated.
Ancestry.com suggest that Carl's parents were Johann Friedrich Christian Hoeppner 1/11/1820 - 9/8/1882 & Maria Dorothea Friedericka Christine (Laborn) Hoeppner 2/15/1824 - 8/27/1911 both in Germany.
