John Hoeppner, 81, of 402 Polk street died at 8:50 last night at the Fairview hospital following two-and-a-half year illness.

He was born June 25, 1877, in Tracy to Carl and Dorothea Hoeppner and had resided in this area all his life.
On Aug. 21, 1935, in Tracy he was married to Caroline Meier. He was a member of the St. John's Lutheran church.

Surviving are two stepsons, Leo Meier, Chicago, and Lawrence Meier, Monon, Ind.; one stepdaughter, Mrs Laura Powell, LaPorte; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Fred Hoeppner, Kingsford Heights, and two sisters, Mrs. George Allwater, Westville, and Miss Emma Hoeppner, Kingsford Heights.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 Saturday morning at the Haverstock Funeral home with the Rev. Edward A. Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Tracy cemetery.

Friends may call at the Haverstock chapel from tomorrow noon until time of service.
