23 Mar 1879 - 6 Nov 1971 Louis Rogers, 92, died in Springfield Baptist Hospital at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Mr. Rogers was a retired farmer and had lived in the Sparta community since 1924, moving from Ceciltree County, Texas. He started and drove the Sparta bus route for 11 years. Survivors include his wife, Anna Pletcher; seven daughters, Mrs. Gladys King, Decatur, Ala., Mrs. Blanche Goins, Bruner; Mrs. Bessie Arms, St. Louis; Mrs. Arline Ryals, Morton, Ill., Mrs. Vivian Johns, Bruner, and Mrs. Susie Johns, Bruner; four sons, Benny Rogers, Eugene, John Rogers, Kansas City, Pletcher Rogers, Springfield and Charles F. Rogers, Springfield; 44 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church in Sparta with the Rev. Dennis Swift, assisted by Rev. Bill Mabury, officiating. Burial was in Sparta Cemetery under direction of Harris of Ozark.
