JOHN COURTAD

Passes Away at Home on Bieglow St. After Long Illness

John Courtad, well known resident of this county, passed into sleep of death at his home on West Bigelow St. Friday morning at 9:45 o'clock after an illness of the past several
months. Mr. Courtad had suffered an attack of heart trouble last Dec. and had been bed fast since Feb. 26, death being attributed to infirmities of age and complications.

John Courtad was born Jan. 4, 1855 in Seneca Co., the son of
Peter and Clementine Zircher Courtad, both long since deceased, being eighty two years, two months, and twenty two days at the time of his demise. On May 15, 1877, Mr. Courtad was united in marriage at Upper Sandusky to Sarah Casey, who preceded him to death on Feb. 9, 1930. Six children were born to this union, namely William C. Courtad, Frank J. Courtad, Miss Clara Courtad, Ernest B. Courtad, and Frederick Michael Courtad, all of Marion, and Mrs. Mary C. Weber, of Columbus. Four grandchildren also survive with 3 brothers, Joseph Courtad, and August Courtad of this city; Martin J. Courtad, of east of this city, and two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Greth, of Kirby; and Mrs. Lena Pahl of Carey. A brother, Adam Courtad, two half-brothers, Peter and Lawrence Courtad, and two half-sisters, Mrs. Margaret Fetzer and Mrs. Mary Baube preceded him in death.

Mr. Courtad came to his county with his parents when he was 7 years of age. He had resided in this community for the past seventy five years. Mr. Courtad followed the ccupation of farming until fifteen years ago when he moved to this city. He was a devout member of St. Peter's Catholic church and was affiliated with the local chapter of the Catholic Knights of Ohio.

Through his activities in his church and community he gained many friends and acquaintances who join the bereaved children in mourning their loss.

Interment was made in St. Mary's Cemetery at Marion.
