Services for Ann Marie James were held Monday, June 24,1985, from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Tilden with Fr. Don Stortz officiating. Organist was Steve Reinke and soloist was Loretta Nykodym.
Pallbearers were John McCarthy,Jr., Dennis Hodge, Roger Parr, Tim McCarthy, Jerry James and Scott James with interment in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Tilden.
Ann Marie James, the daughter of Justin McCarthy and Margaret (Heenan) McCarthy, was born at Tilden on May 19, 1915.
Ann graduated from the Tilden High School with the class of 1934. On May 5, 1934 she was married to Wilbur James at West Point.
The couple was engaged in farming; owned and operated laundries in Tilden, Stanton and Madison; and Peacock Cleaners and Sunset Dry Cleaners in Norfolk until retirement.
Ann died at the Heritage Village in Tilden on June 20, 1985. She was 70 years of age.
Ann is survived by her husban, Wilbur; one daughter, Mrs. Norman (Joanne) Rudnick of Tilden; three grandchildren; one greatgrandson; one brother, John McCarthy of Norfolk; three sisters, Margaret Funk, Elizabeth Velder, and Theresa Scheer, all of Norfolk; one half sister, Katherine McCarthy of Las Cruces, New Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and infant son; one son-in-law, Cecil Rucnick; two brothers, Justin and Sandy Alexander; and three sisters, Mary Ellen, Lucy and Sarah.
