Theresa grew up in the Tilden, Nebraska area, where she attended Tilden (NE.) Public Schools. On June 7, 1937, Theresa was married to Lyle Walter Scheer at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Tilden, Nebraska. The couple was blessed with four children: Mary Mardell, Jeanette, Jerry, and Barb. During her lifetime, Theresa lived in Tilden, Grand Island, Norfolk, and Madison, Nebraska where she was a housewife, and also worked for a short time at Hested's Variety Stores.
Theresa was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Norfolk, Nebraska and the Catholic Altar Society. While her husband was stationed aboard the U.S.S. West Virginia during World War II, Theresa was a member of a group of ladies called "The War Wives".
Theresa is survived by: children, Mary Mardell (husband Richard) Pulliam of St. Joseph, Missouri, Jeannette Rosier and Sonny Bybee of Lawton, Oklahoma, Jerry (Alice) Scheer of Madison, Nebraska, and Barb (Don) Cheairs of Bellevue, Nebraska; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lorrayne McCarthy of Lincoln, Nebraska and a host of relatives and friends.
Theresa was preceded in death by: husband; parents; sisters (and their husbands), Kate McCarthy (formerly of Las Cruces, New Mexico), Margaret and Rudy Funk (formerly of Clearwater, Nebraska), Liz and Pete Velder (formerly of Norfolk, Nebraska), Sally and Marc Lavelle (formerly of Worthington, Minnesota), Mary Ellen McCarthy (formerly of Tilden, Nebraska), Lucy and Alva O'Brien (formerly of Stanton, Nebraska), and Ann and Wilbur James (formerly of Tilden); brothers (and their wives), Justin and Marie McCarthy (formerly of Fremont, Nebraska), Alexander "Sandy" McCarthy (formerly of Tilden), and John McCarthy (formerly of Norfolk, Nebraska) and an infant grandson, Jesse Adam Scheer.
Burial was in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Tilden, Nebraska.
