Bom in Orange County on Nov. 12, 1917, he was the son of the late John Harvey Evers and Lommie Lee Evers.
In addition to his wife; Arthur is survived by two sons, Harvey Lee Evers and his wife, Janet of Altavista and Charles Evers and his wife, Dottie, of Concord, two daughters, Joyce Riley and her husband, Richard of Greenville, S.C. and Mara Walker and her husband, Daryl of Lynchburg; nine grandchildren, Kelly Riley, Kim Riley, Heather Evers, Stuart Evers, Daryl Walker; Jr., Brandon Walker, Curtis Evers, Savannah Arthur, and Eric Tharp; three brothers, Nelson P. Evers and his wife Faye of Forest, John Earl Evers and his wife Sarah, and Lawrence Evers, all or Lynchburg.
Arthur was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Williams and three brothers, Paul Evers, Frank Evers and William Evers.
Arthur-was proud of his service with the U.S. Army during World War II, and he was a charter member of the Lyn-Dan Heights Ruritan Club. He worked as a pasteurizer at Westover Dairy for 33 years.
A celebration of his life will be conducted Tuesday, March 19, 2002, at 3 p.m. at Mead Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert P. Winston officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park with military honors by American Legion Post 16.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 7-8:30 p.m.
