Nelson Peronneau Evers, 76, of Lynchburg, passed away Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Faye D. Evers.

Born Feb. 18, 1932, in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late John Harvey and Lomie Lee Evers. Nelson retired from BandW Technologies and was a member of Langhorne Chapel Community Church.

He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and served our country during the Korean War.

In addition to his wife, Faye, he is survived by two daughters, Vicky E. Gaddy and her husband, Randy, of Bedford and Mary E. Mason and her friend, Johnathan Wingfield, of Charlottesville; two brothers, John Earl Evers and his wife, Sarah, and Lawrence Evers, all of Lynchburg; six grandchildren, Rob Gaddy, Tiffany Gaddy, B.J. Gaddy, Tabitha Gaddy, Christy Gaddy and Gary Mason; and a former sister-in-law, Martha Wallenhorst. He was preceded in death by one sister, Frances Williams, and five brothers, William, Paul, Carl, Frank and Arthur Evers.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, in Diuguid Waterlick Chapel, with the Rev. Dwight Weaver officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
