Mrs. Emmaline Bennett Beckstrand, 82, died Saturday at 8:50 p.m. of pneumonia in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Melvin O. Cox, 3310-9th East, where she had been residing.
Mrs. Beckstrand was born Jan. 7, 1869, in Holden, Millard County, a daughter of John and Jane Roberts Bennett.
On Oct 25, 1893, she was married to Joseph C. Beckstrand in Mantil Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They resided in Meadow, Millard County, until 1935 when Mr. Beckstrand died. Since that time Mrs. Beckstrand had spent much of her time in Salt Lake City at the homes of daughters.
She was an active member of the L. D. S. Church, serving as secretary and president of the Meadow Ward Relief Society and as counselor in the Young Women's Mutual Improvement Assn. She was also a Sunday School teacher and a member of the ward choir at Meadow.
She had served as captain of the Jeanette Duncan Camp of the Daughters of the Utah Pionners, Meadow.
Surviving are six of her eight children, Mrs. Bert (Alta) Fisher and Mrs. Edith Cox, both of Salt Lake City; J. Clifton and J. Milton Beckstrand, Meadow; Mrs. Welby (Myrl) Finlinson, Leamington, Millard County, and Orrin B. Beckstrand, Merced, Cal; 22 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Meadow Ward Chapel by Melvin Duncan, bishop.
Friends may call at the home of J. Clifton Beckstrand, Meadow, Wednesday until time of services, Burial will be in Meadow Cemetery under the direction of Mortuary, Fillmore.
