"Millard County Chronicle" 9/16/1943 HOLDEN PIONEER MOTHER DIES AT ADVANCED AGE - Mrs. Mary Ann B. Stephenson, 88, died at her home in Holden Sunday evening following an illness of two weeks. although her health had been poor for several years. One of Holden's oldest pioneer mothers, she was the wife of the late Patriarch Anthony Stephenson. Born June 27, 1855 at Conesquay, England, she was the daughter of John and Jane Roberts Bennett. She came to this country with her parents when she was eight years old. The family settled first in Fillmore then Deseret, later moving to Holden where Mrs. Stephenson had spent most of her life. She has been an active member of the LDS church all of her life, serving in many capacities. She was president of the Holden Ward Relief Society for fifteen years.

The mother of eleven children; she was survived by nine of them; Mrs. Jane M. Ashby, Leamington; Anthony E. Stephenson, Delta; Mrs. Mary E. Anderson, Oak City; Mrs. Amanda Johnson, Midvale; Mrs. Eva Johnson, Flowell; J. Maiben Stephenson, Lehi; James A., Ormus W. and Mrs. Clara Crosland of Holden; also by two sisters, Mrs. Jane B. Stephenson of Holden and Mrs. Emmaline Beckstrand of Meadow; one brother, William T. Bennett of Salt Lake City; 47 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the Holden Ward at 2 p.m. Wednesday under the direction of Bishop Dobson. The Olpin Mortuary was in charge of the burial which took place in Holden cemetery.
