Orrin Bennett Beckstrand 1912 ~ 2007 Orrin Bennett Beckstrand died Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at his home in Bountiful, Utah. He was born in Meadow, Utah, August 22, 1912, the son of Joseph Conrad and Emmaline Bennett Beckstrand. Orrin was educated in Millard County Schools, Branch Agricultural College (now SUU), and graduated from Utah State Agricultural College (now USU) in 1938 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Orrin was a college student during the hard years of the Great Depression. He learned to be very frugal and taught his family to live providently. During his college years, he drove bus for the Utah Parks. He was employed by the American Red Cross as a Field Director and retired as Administrator of the Red Cross Intermountain Blood Center. Orrin was married to Elma Corry on September 21, 1940, in Cedar City They were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on April 24, 1942. She died December 17, 1985. He married Sanona Hart France, December 22, 1989. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully throughout his life in various ward and stake positions. He served a full-time mission with his wife Elma, from 1975-1977, in the New Mexico Albuquerque Mission. He enjoyed gardening, family activities and listening to music performed by his children and grandchildren. Orrin is survived by his wife, Sanona; his daughter, SueAnne (C. Kent Thompson), Logan; his son, "B.J." Orrin Bennett Beckstrand, Jr. (Cecelia), Tooele; step-children; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, Alta B. Fisher, Clifton, Milton, Myrl B. Finlinson, Linford, Afton and Edith B. Cox; his first wife, Elma; and their three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 5, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Val Verda Second Ward Chapel, 3317 South 800 West, Bountiful, Utah. Friends and family may call Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, and Friday morning from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
