He was born March 5, 1865, in Deseret, Millard County, a son of John and Jane Roberts Bennett. He spent the early part of his life in Holden, Millard County, later residing in Carey, Idaho and then in Tremonton, Box Elder County. In 1938 he moved to Salt Lake City where he has since resided.
On Nov. 15, 1883 he married Elizabeth Jane Sibley in the old Latter-day Saints Endowment House in Salt Lake City. She died Feb. 10, 1938. In May 1942, he married Lovinna Farrer. in Salt Lake City.
Mr. Bennett was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all his life and was a high priest. He was choir leader at the Holden Ward for 20 years and had been a high councilman in the ward at two different times, He also had been president of the old age pension and assistance organization at Holden.
Surviving are his widow; nine sons and daughters; Mrs. Edith Tompkinson, Elmer Bennett, Carey, Ida.; Clifton R. Bennett, Colorado Springs, Colo,; Mrs. Ellis Smith, Richland Wash.; Mrs Thora Poulson, Portland, Ore.; Aarl Bennett Tremonton; Verda and Linford Bennett, Salt Lake City; a sister, Mrs. Emmaline Beckstrand , Salt Lake City; 33 grand-children and 44 great-grandchildren.
