RITES FOR ORAL A. WOOD HELD
Oral Albert (Slim) Wood, son of the late James Monroe and Elizabeth Rosier Wood, was born near Salem, March 10, 1900. Departed this life at the Fulton County Hospital in Salem, November 17, 1970, at the age of 70 years, 8 months and 7 days.
He was united in marriage to Mae Powell, at Salem, in 1929. She preceeded him in death on July 24, 1930. He was united in marriage to Jewell Bailey at Salem, June 15, 1935.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother in infancy.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his companion of the home at Salem, three brothers, Clough Wood of Sturkie, Rufus Wood of Byron, and Clyde Wood, of Mammoth Spring, four sisters, Mrs. Annice Reavis, of West Plains, Misosuri, Miss Bertha Wood, of Salem, Mrs. Granville Sherman of Viola and Mrs. Pearl Smith, of Thayer, Missouri and a host of other relatives and many many friends. Slim had been a member of the Salem Baptist Church since 1954. He had made his home at Salem all of his life.
Fuenral services were held Thursday, November 19, at 2 o'clock PM, at the Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Stanley Cooper and Rev Noel Tanners, both of Salem, officiating. Interment was in the Salem Cemetery under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, of Salem.
Casketbearers were: Billy Ray Wood, Charles Sherman, Owen Wayne Wood, Leonard Reavis, Jr., George Meyer and Jack Glock. Honorary bearers were: Wes Henry, Everett Blevins, Floyd Weathers, Marvin Hall, Tom Shell and Bob Coleman.
