BERTHA MINERVA WOOD, of Salem, Arkansas, daughter of the late James Monroe and Nancy Elizabeth Rosier Wood, was born September 6, 1897, in Viola, Arkansas. She departed this life Tuesday afternoon, November 7, 1989, at the Fulton County Hospital, Salem, Arkansas, at the age of 92 years, 2 months, and 1 day.
Bertha spent her working years as a school teacher, in Fulton County, for 39 years. She was the oldest member of the Salem First Baptist Church in Salem, Arkansas, and a member of the Retired Teachers Association.
Miss Wood leaves to mourn her passing: two sisters: Granville Sherman, Viola, Arkansas; Pearl Smith, Thayer, Missouri; four Sister-in-laws: Inez Wood, Byron, Arkansas; Ruth N. Wood, Sturkie, Arkansas; Jewell Wood, Salem, Arkansas; Jessie Wood, Mammoth Spring, Arkansas: nephews, nieces, other relatives, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister-Annice Reavis, and five brothers- Oral "Slim", Rufus, Clough, Clyde and Roy.
