Sarah was born the daughter of Zachariah Warren [1762] and Agnes White [1765] in Franklin County Virginia. She married Edmund Hendley Richards Sr. March 22 1802 in Franklin Co VA. The Richards and Warren families were neighbors and friends living ca6.5 miles south east of Rocky Mount [between Sydnorsville and Sontag].

EXODUS TO TENNESSEE
They later migrated with several families [Stewart, Warren, Jones, England, Hodges, etc] to Robertson Co TN in 1814. They were landowners/farmers there.

TO ILLINOIS
Then in 1830, Edmund & Sarah again transplanted with most of the same families north to Macoupin County IL, settling along the border of North Otter and North Palmyra townships. They purchased land and engaged in farming. Edmund & Sarah raised eleven children.
1. Edward Nathaniel (1804-188?) VA
2. Edmund Hendley Jr. (1806-1874) VA
3. Enoch Stewart (1807-1839) VA
4. John Asher (1809-?) VA
5. Agnes(1810-1853) VA +Edward Adcock
6. Charity C.(1813-1891 ) VA +John Chapman
7. Zachariah Watts (1815-1902) TN
8. Caleb D. (1818-1895) TN
9. Rhoda Ann (1821-1882) TN +William Potts
10. Matilda (1823-1896) TN +J. Park
11. Mary A. (1826-1896) TN +T. Park

ONE MORE MOVE
After husband Edmund's death in 1840, Sarah moved with sons Zachariah & Caleb, and the Henry Carter family to north west Missouri in Andrew Co. There they settled on land acquired by the U.S. Government from the Indians by the Platte Purchase in 1841. In perspective of how "on the edge of civilization" they were, the western migration using the "Oregon Trail" began a few years AFTER they homesteaded [in the 1845-1848 period].

BELOVED SONS
She lived out her years being cared for on the family farm of Zachariah W. Richards, and near other son Caleb. She was the one pioneer of the Virginia Richards clan who traveled furthest in their lifetime.

Sarah Ann Warren-Richards Will

"I Sarah Richards of Andrew County, in the State of Missouri, Relict (A woman whose husband is dead; a widow) of Edmund Richards late of Macoupin County and State of Illinois, do make and publish this my last will and testament, hereby --- and making void all former wills by me at any time here to fore made. First I direct that my body be directly interred and that my funeral be conducted in a manner corresponding with my situation in life; and as to the property or effects I may be in possession of, or have a right to the possession of at the time of my death I direct to be disposed of in the following manner viz. All the property or effects of mine that may be in the care of my beloved son, Zechariah W. Richards, at the time of my death I give to him. And I also give unto my beloved son, Caleb D. Richards, all the property or effects of mine that may be in his possession at the time of my death. I also direct further that all the money or effects, rights or evectiy [sic] that may be due, --- owing, or coming to me in any manner or from any other sources than from my two beloved sons named above, portion culavly [sic] what may be coming to me in the way of dower from my husband's estate in the State of Illinois be divided between my two beloved sons Zachariah W. Richards, and Caleb D. Richards. Share and share alike, and the money or property that I have heretofore given to either of my two beloved sons is to remain theirs forever. All of the above I conceive justly due my two beloved sons Zechariah W. Richards and Caleb D. Richards in consequence of the kind care they have given of me in my old age. And I hereby make and ordain my two beloved sons Zechariah W. Richards and Caleb D. Richards Executors of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof, I, Sarah Richards the testatrix, have here unto set my hand and seal, this sixteenth day of June in the year eighteen hundred and fifty three."
Sarah Richards [mark]
Signed, sealed, published and declared, by the above named Sarah Richards, as her last will and testament in the presence of us, who have here unto subscribed our names as witnesses there to, in the presence of the testatrix and in the presence of each other, on the day and year aforesaid.
