THE OLD DOMINION
Enoch was the third son of eleven children born to Edmund Hendley Richards Sr. [1783] and Sarah Ann Warren [1783] in Franklin County Virginia.

TENNESSEE AND ILLINOIS
In 1814, when Enoch was 7 years old, his family left behind the Richards plantation south of Rocky Mount along with several other families, both relatives and friends, emigrating into Robertson Co TN [just north of Nashville]. There they purchased land and farmed. Then, in 1830, most of the same families moved north into Macoupin Co IL [Macoupin County was officially organized in 1829] and settled in North Otter Township. They purchased land once more, with most settling there to the end of their lives.

Enoch owned 160 acres in section 30, and 80 acres in section 32 of North Otter township.

MARRIAGE
He married Mary Jane Gibson [1808] KY, daughter of Hugh Gibson, on August 16 1830 in Macoupin County IL. His father Edmund Hendley Sr., his brothers Edmund Hendley Jr., Edward Nathaniel, John Asher, and he himself were considered among the "First Settlers" in Macoupin County as written in the book "The History of Macoupin County IL". They lived adjacent to the Adcock, Chapman, Warren, and Stewart families, among others.

CHILDREN
Enoch was the father of 3 children:
1. James Westley [1833] +Mary E. Stone
2. Newton Warren [1834] +Mary J. Jones
3. Nancy Louisa [1838] +William Horstman

AN EARLY PASSING
His life was cut short at 32 years of age [from what I do not know], and was presumably buried on his father's home place [the family cemetery since has been plowed under and lost].
