Mr. Daniel Thompson, Alston, age 72, died on Saturday, May 1, 1982 at Meadows Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.

The retired mechanic was a native of Toombs County but had spent most of his life in Montgomery County. He was a member of the Vidalia First Baptist Church. He was the son of the late Abbie and Lula Galbreath Thompson. He was widowed of Fay McDaniel Thompson.

Mr. Thompson is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Patsy Rusilko, Macon, and Mrs. Dawn Sosby, Newnan; one son, Danny Mac Thompson, Alston; four sisters, Mrs. Henry Gillis, Vidalia, Mrs. Eddie Odom, Soperton, Mrs. Arva Wilkes, Valdosta, and Mrs. Elise Lutz, Joliet, Ill.; 9 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Thompson were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 3, 1982 at the Alston Baptist Church with the Rev. David Landers and the Rev. Milton Smith officiating. Interment followed in the Sharpespur Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Joel Outler, Willie Davis, Calvin Hart, Jack Gillis, Richard Thompson, and Henry Fulford. Murchison Funeral Home of Vidalia was in charge of arrangements.
