The native of Tattnall County had lived most of her life in the Vidalia area. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church, Vidalia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry D. Gillis.
The deceased is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Alexander, Jacksonville, Fla.; one son, Jack Edward Gillis, Darien, Ga.; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Odom, Soperton, Mrs. Mildred Wilkes, Valdosta, and Mrs. Elise Lutz, Joliet, Illinois; 5 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for Mrs. Gillis were held Saturday, May 16, 1998, at 11:00 a.m. at Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Richard Thompson officiating. Murchison Funeral Home of Vidalia was in charge of the arrangements.
