Rosetta May Chambers Townsend, 81. of 56 E. Jefferson, Peru, Indiana died July 1, 1961 at Duke Hospital in Peru, Indiana. She died of hypostatic Pneumonia in which she had been hospitalized for three days. She also had a history of arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease for greater than 20 years and generalized osteoarthritis. She had been ill four years. She spent her lifetime in Miami County, Indiana. She was born in Richland Township, Miami County, Indiana on May 5, 1880. She was the daughter of Joseph and Sarah Chambers.

She married Charles Marion Townsend in 1896 in Miami County, Indiana, who survives. Also surviving are five sons: William. Harry, James, Arthur, and Darrell Townsend and four daughters: Mrs. Lola Banks, Mrs. Linal Copeland, and Mrs. Glen Sutton, all of Peru and Mrs. Mable Bell of Springfield, Missouri; 34 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren. Two sons are deceased.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday in the Drake-Flowers Chapel. The Reverend Russell Shalley will officiate, and the burial will be in the Shrock Cemetery, Peru, Miami County, Indiana
