Mabel M. Townsend was born about 1903 in Erie Township, Miami County, Indiana to Charles Marion and Rosetta May Chambers Townsend. She had 8 siblings: William Dewey Townsend (1898-1965), Harry Edward Townsend (1900-1977), Lola Townsend Banks Babcoke (1905-1973), Erba May Townsend Copeland (1907-1985), James Franklin Townsend (1910-1993), Arthur A. Townsend (1912-1988), Darrell K. Townsend (1917-1997), and Amy E. Townsend Sutton (1917-1995).

She had a son, John J. Townsend, that was raised by her parents. According to John J.'s death certificate, it reports John Langer as the father. Mabel and John Langer never married. John Langer died at the age of 30.

Marie then met William Keith Bell, Sr. and then married about 1924 in Wabash, Indiana. To this happy union they had three children. Betty J. Bell (Hamby), Margaret Bell, and William Keith Bell, Jr..

The Bell family then relocated to Texas City, Galveston County, Texas. Tragically, the youngest son died of an accident in which he was throwing a cable and it touched a power line, instantly killing him at their home in 1953. Six years later, she lost her husband to cancer.

She was last mentioned on her father's obituary with last name Bell living in Springfield, Missouri about 1968.

Her circumstances around her death and burial are unknown at present until more research reveals this information.
