Darrell K. Townsend of 56 E. Jefferson Avenue, Peru, Indiana died at the age of 79 on March 17, 1997 at 12 Shields Avenue in Peru, Indiana. He died from cancer of the esophagus and C.O.P.D.

He was born on June 12 1917 in Peru, Indiana to Charles M. and Rosetta Chambers Townsend. He had nine brothers and sisters: William Dewey Townsend (1898-1965), Harry Edward Townsend (1900-1977), Mabel M. Townsend Bell (1903-?), Lola Townsend Banks Babcoke (1905-1973), Erba May Townsend Copeland (1907-1985), James Franklin Townsend (1910-1993), Arthur A. Townsend (1912-1988), Baby Townsend (1910-?), Ama 'Amy' Townsend Sutton (1915-1995).

He lived all his life in Peru and never married. He was dedicated to his family and was a loving son and brother.

He was retired from Bush-Hog in Peru. Mr. Townsend was preceded in death by both his parents and all of his siblings: five brothers and four sisters.

Graveside services are at 2:00 pm Wednesday at Shrock Cemetery, Miami County, with the Reverend Ronald Shoener officiating. Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home on 105 W. Third Street, Peru, Indiana is handing the arrangements.
