Harry Edward Townsend, age 76, died in Reno, Washoe, Nevada from acute coronary insufficiency (heart attack) and arteriosclerotic heart disease. He was formerly from Peru, Miami County, Indiana and was born on November 6 1900 to Charles Marion Townsend and Rosetta May Chambers Townsend.

He had eight siblings: Mrs Mabel Bell of Springfield, Missouri; Mrs. Lola Banks, Peru; Mrs. Mrs. Linai Copeland, Peru; James Townsend, Peru; Arthur Townsend, Peru; Mrs. Glen Sutton, Amboy, and Darrell Townsend, and William D. Townsend who is buried at the Mount Hope Cemetery; and one cousin, John Townsend, raised as a brother in the Townsend household.

Mr. Townsend married Laverne Ethel Harrell and to their union they had four children: Harry Townsend (1925-1927), Fred Marion Townsend (1929-2012), Richard Lee Townsend (1932-2007), and Sgt. Stephen Lance Townsend (1950-1968). Harry and Laverne later divorced.

He was an artist in every sense of the word. He created magnificent pieces of jewelry as a master plater.

He was cremated on April 19, 1977 by the Masonic Memorial Gardens Crematory in Reno, Nevada. Funeral arrangements were made by Ross, Burke, and Knoble Mortuary, 2155 Kietzke Lane, Reno, Nevada. This information was provided by his death certificate. His obituary reports burial in Santee, San Diego County, California. The cemetery in which his ashes were buried in is not known at present until additional research reveals this information.
