Ida was the daughter of William Henry Keyser and Sarah Ann Schubert. They were from Lehigh and Berks counties in Pennsylvania. Ida was born on December 12, 1881 in Springfield, Illinois. She married Joseph A. King in May of 1913. They were deeply in love. At the time, he had been working for the railroad company. He unloaded the cargo of the trains. Once he had to stay in Granite City for sometime. They wrote letters to each other saying how much they missed each other and how much they wanted to see each other. Joe was thrilled to learn that Ida was pregnant. On February 10, 1914 while Ida was in Staunton, Joe was working on unloading barrels off the trains in Springfield. While unloading an oil barrel, one of them was unhitched. It fell and crushed him. He was unconscious and was sent to St. John's Hospital, where he never regained consciousness and died. When Ida found out she was devastated. Two months later their daughter was born. In remembrance of her beloved husband, Joseph, she named her daughter Josephine. She never remarried. Ida died on November 9, 1965 at the age of 83. She was buried in Calvary Cemetery, Springfield, Illinois on November 12, 1965.
