She was born in Longswamp, Pennsylvania to William and Sarah Zepp Schubert. She married William Keyser in 1863, he was a Civil War veteran. After the war, in 1866, her, her son James, and her husband, William left Pennsylvania for Springfield, Illinois. She had many more children, including some dying in infancy. She fell and broke her hip and died soon after. She lived to the ripe age of 98.
