John was the son of William Henry and Sarah Ann Schubert Keyser. They were from Lehigh and Berks counties in Pennsylvania. John was born on October 27, 1871 in Springfield, Illinois. John never got married. On April 29, 1899, at the age of 27, he was struck by a train on the Wabash Railroad in Springfield, Illinois. John was buried in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield, Illinois on May 1, 1899.
