Mr. Barrett had been employed on the Akron Township WPA road project until he became ill.
Walter Richard, son of Flavius and Margaret Barrett, was born near Stark, Illinois, November 26, 1890, and died at the Methodist Hospital in Peoria January 26, 1936, at the age of 46 years and 2 months.
He was united in marriage to Miss Laura Worsfold of Kickapoo on December 16, 1913. To this union nine children were born, six daughters and three sons; Wilma, Thelma, Levona, Loretta, Martha, Leatha, Willis and Walter, all at home, and Warren, who passed away in infancy.
Besides his wife and eight children, he is survived by eight sisters and three brothers. His parents and one brother preceded him in death.
Mr. Barrett resided in the Princeville vicinity his entire life, where he was known as an honest workman and a good neighbor. He was a devoted husband and father, and he will be sorely missed in the home.
The Barrett children were all immunized Monday of this week as a precaution against the disease which claimed their father's life and with which their mother is suffering.
