MARION WALTER BROWN

Marion Walter Brown, 86, renown American Saddlebred Horseman, died Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield after a brief illness.

He was born April 24, 1918, a son of Robert E. and Myrtle Hendrix Brown at the family farm home in Pike County, three miles north of Curryville.

He is survived by his daughter, Marla L. Rouillard and husband Gary of Inverness, Fla.; friend and companion Rosalie Schaefer of Florissant; daughter-in-law, Judy Lowman and husband Bruce of Springfield, Ill.; grandchildren, Suzette Valenti and husband Nick of St. Petersburg, Fla., Christopher Jacobs of Brandon, Fla., Craig Jacobs and wife Tia of Eatonton, Ga., Yvette Baker of Hernando, Fla., Jody Brown and wife Julieann of Springfield, Ill., Janae Doerfler of Springfield, Ill., Jay Brown of Central, Ill., Jill Brown of Springfield, Ill., Debbie Hamilton of Glendale; 11 great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; brother, Lawrence Brown of Columbia; three sisters, Lucille Brown of Mexico, Catherine Hahnfeld of Independence, Gloria Kirk and husband Jimmy of Mexico.

He was preceded in death by his son, Marion Joe Brown; seven brothers, Forrest, W.R., R. Eugene, Lawson, Dalton, Edgar and Marvin; five sisters, Belva Brown, Maude Brown, Irene Brown, Bessie Freels and an infant sister.

Mr. Brown attended Mt. Air Presbyterian Church and later First Presbyterian Church in Springfield, Ill. He then attended the Presbyterian Church in Florrisant.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at Arnold Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Friday, March 25 at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home, Rev. Randall Sawyer officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Saddlebred Museum in Mexico.
