Lucille Brown, 94, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006 in Columbia. She was born July 3, 1912 to Robert E. and Myrtle Hendrix Brown at the Brown farm home in Pike County, three miles north of Curryville.
At age 10, she became a member of the Mt. Air Presbyterian Church later transferring her membership to the First Christian Church, Mexico, where she has been a member for over 68 years.
Lucille attended grade school in Pike County and high school in Vandalia and Mexico. She lived all her life in Pike and Audrain Counties, except two years ins Quincy, Ill.
She and two of her sisters always made their home together. Retired from the Florsheim Shoe Company on July 1, 1977 where she had been a Fitting Room Floor Lady for 36 years, with 46 years of service with the company. After retiring she did much traveling with family members and on escorted trips.
Lucille was a wonderful seamstress, loved children and loved her family dearly.
She spent the past few years in assisted living and was currently residing at Lenoir Home in Columbia.
She is survived by one brother, Lawrence Brown, Columbia; two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Hahnfeld, Independence and Gloria Kirk and her husband Jim of Mexico; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and eight brothers, Forrest Brown, W.R. Brown, R. Eugene Brown, L.N. Brown, H.D. Brown, Marvin Brown, Edgar Brown and Marion Brown; and four sisters, Belva Brown, Maude Brown, Irene Brown, and Bessie Freels and an infant sister.
