Gilbert C. Herrman, 81, Liebenthal, died Friday, June 2, 2006, at Hays Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 22, 1924, in Liebenthal to Andrew and Josephine (Depperschmidt) Herrman.

He married Irene E. Schoenberger on June 30, 1953, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He owned Herrman Construction and was a brick mason.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Dennis J. Herrman, Wilsonville, Ore., and Robert A. Herrman, Aloha, Ore.; four daughters, Linda M. Rohleder and husband, Steve, WaKeeney, Carol A. Dinges and husband, Ken, and Janet S. Brungardt and husband, Wayne, all of Hays, and Sharon K. Voelz, Hillsboro, Ore.; a brother, Elmer Herrman, Liebenthal; four sisters, Cleopha Leiker and Virginia Andrasek, both of Great Bend, Mary Leiker, Munjor, and Dorothy Davenport, La Crosse.

Twelve grandchildren, Craig Rohleder, Kyle Rohleder, Tracy Bronson, Andrea Windholz, Eric Dinges, Nathan Brungardt, Nicholas Brungardt, Mitchell Voelz, Merissa Ennes, Kevin Voelz, Angelina Herrman and Josephine Herrman; and five great-grandchildren, Kail Brungardt, Tanis Brungardt, Brody Brungardt, Ashlyn Windholz and Kaitlyn Windholz.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Chris Voelz; a granddaughter, Christy Ann Rohleder; and two sisters, Irene Schmidt and Theresa Lewis.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Liebenthal; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Liebenthal. Visitation will be until 8 p.m. today at Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, with a vigil service and Knights Of Columbus Council No. 2340 rosary at 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to Centennial Capital Improvement Campaign, Liebenthal.
