Leonard Blevins Jr., 73, of Gillespie, died Saturday, April 23, 2011, at 7:50 a.m. at his residence.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 26, at Kravanya Funeral Home, Gillespie, with the Rev. Christine Erdmann officiating.

Born Aug. 27, 1937, at Gillespie, he was the son of the late Leonard and Mildred (Gray) Blevins Sr. He married Alice M. Janssen Jan. 28, 1961, at Litchfield, and she survives.

Mr. Blevins served in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a heavy equipment operator at a rock quarry retiring in 2000.

Survivors include two sons, Terry (wife Bobbi) Blevins of Dorchester, and Greg (wife Staci) Blevins of Gillespie; a daughter, Rhonda (husband Lonnie) Manalia of Plainview; five brothers, Luke Blevins, Lindell Blevins, Wayne Blevins, James Blevins, and Tom Blevins; five sisters, Edna Mae Releford, Clarissa "Babe" Troxel, Alberta "Bert" Shempf, Vi Edwards, Carolyn Rimar; and seven grandchildren, Cory Blevins, Mya Blevins, Logan Blevins, Loni Nicole Manalia, Linsey Manalia, Ethan Blevins, and Quentin Blevins.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Blevins; four sisters, Marie Brewer, Alvena Friend, Marianna Peacock, and Dorothy Blevins.

The family suggests memorials be given to Partnership for Educational Excellence District 7 or Gillespie High School all weather track.
