He was born Sept. 27, 1946, in Litchfield, the son of Leonard Blevins Sr. and Mildred (Gray) Blevins.
He married Lois (Poivey) Blevins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Blevins of Gillespie; a son, Chuck (Amy) Price of Gillespie; two daughters, Jackie (John) VanDoren of Gillespie and Amanda (Jason) Koniak of Gillespie; seven grandchildren; six brothers; and five sisters.
Richard retired as foreman for Olin Brass Mill in East Alton. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at the funeral home, with Arthur Roemer officiating.
Military rites will be conducted by V.F.W. Post 4547 of Gillespie.
Memorials may be made to Ben-Gil Boosters or Partnership for Educational Excellence District #7.
